Themba Sonnyboy Sekowe is the real name of Pretoria-based rapper, DJ Maphorisa who was born on November 15, 1987, in South Africa. The international celebrity disc jockey grew up and was raised in a music-loving family. His mother was a member of a musical congregation, which fueled his enthusiasm for the field. His father is a Nigerian, while his mother is a South African.

The Mafikizolo group recorded a song called The Sound that featured international superstar Davido. Y-Tjukutja was another popular song they had.

After leaving Kalawa Jazmee Records, he created Blaqboy Music. It is important to also state that he played a role in the popular Wizkid’s One Dance, with Canadian star, Drake which featured Kayla. This earned him international recognition.

In recent times, the celebrity disc jockey has been working closely with Kabza De Small and together they took the Amapiano genre global.
